Class 1 Teacher - SENCO
Kathryn worked in finance and then in retail before pursuing a career in teaching and has been teaching for 19 years.
Kathryn studied at the University of Chester and completed a Bachelor of Education (Honours) Degree, studying English Language and Literature as a main subject. She specialised in teaching Early Years and Key stage 1. Whilst at University, she travelled to Spain to teach English as a foreign language (TEFL.)
After graduating in 1996, Kathryn taught in schools in Manchester and Cheshire for ten years.
Kathryn moved back with her family to Cumbria ten years ago and feels very lucky to live in such a beautiful part of the country. She enjoys spending her free time with family and friends and going into the Lakes fell walking. She is a very keen, (but not necessarily very good) skier!
Kathryn is passionate about working with Early Years children and in exploring the different ways in which they learn, using both the indoor and outdoor environments.
Class 1 Teacher - Outdoor Learning Link
Nicky has been teaching for over 20 years. She gained her BA Hons degree with specialisms in Art and Outdoor Education which she then pursued working in the USA and Canada before returning to the UK.
Once back in the UK she pursued her interest in the outdoors by working with the Lake District National Park Wardens, Ullswater Outward Bound School and the British Trust for Conservation. Her knowledge and love for the Lake District Fells has enabled her to pursue her interest in Fell Running.
Her teaching career started whilst she was living in Yorkshire for 9 years before returning to Cumbria 12 years ago and has now been at Castle Carrock School for 8 years.
